The proteome is the whole set of proteins expressed in an organism. The analysis of the proteome allows the development of species-specific profiles that can be used for organisms identification (protein-profiling).
In specific taxonomic groups the analysis of protein profiles allows even finer discrimination, such as larval stages and sexes (e.g.: for copepods in zooplankton). Biome-id disposes of an extensive reference database of protein profiles from North Sea organisms.
Prices
The biome-id protein-profiling method is scientifically verified and represents a quick and cost-efficient alternative to DNA-based species identifications.
Our protein-profiling service is available starting from 15,00 EUR (excl. VAT) per sample. Prices may vary depending on number, nature and composition of samples. We will be glad to provide you with an individual offer.

Our offer
The analysis includes the total proteome extraction and a mass spectrometry-based separation of proteins to generate a profile. An identification at species level is obtained with the comparison of profiles with our in-house database.
The flexibility of this proteome-based approach allows designing custom applications, such as the preparation of reference libraries for fast and semi-automated identification of selected organisms.
