DNA Barcoding is the identification of organisms based on the Sanger sequencing of a defined
gene fragment. For standard identifications, depending on the starting material (organisms and type of tissue), we use broadly accepted and scientifically verified Barcoding regions (COI, ITS, matK, rbcL). Upon customer request we can also analyze different gene fragments or so-called "Mini-barcodes".
Our complete Barcoding service is available starting from 30,00 EUR (excl. VAT) per sample. Prices may vary depending on number, nature and composition of samples.

The quality of DNA in the sample influences the results of our analysis. For this reason
all samples should be stored frozen, dry or prepared by fixation with an appropriate medium upon sampling (ethanol, RNA later, DMSO, DESS etc.).
In general, storing samples in a dry, dark and cold place (e.g.: frozen at -20°C) helps maintaining a high DNA quality.
Fresh material is normally shipped fixed in 96% ethanol in appropriate vials (e.g.: Eppendorf or Falcon tubes 1,5-50 ml). Plant parts and pinned insects can be sent dry. Contact us to receive further support in preparing your material.
