DNA metabarcoding is the genetic analysis of bulk samples including a mix of different organisms. This includes samples from insect traps, plankton catches, stomach contents, faeces etc.
Specimens are not handled individually but the sample is homogenized and analyzed using high throughput parallel sequencing. Sequences are then computer-processed to obtain the species composition of the mixed sample.

Sampling
The quality of DNA in the sample influences the results of our analysis. For this reason samples are ideally collected by trained personnel, fixed in an appropriate medium (Ethanol, RNA later, DMSO, DESS etc.) or frozen.
We suggest you to get in touch with us to receive support in planning your sampling, fixing and storing your samples. We gladly issue an individual offer.
